Register online (requires an Arizona driver license or non-operating ID) by 11:59 PM on October 5. Mailed registration forms must be postmarked on or before October 5 and reach the County Recorder by 7:00 PM on Election Day. Register in person at your County Recorder's office by October 5 (office hours apply; statute sets the cutoff at midnight of the 29th day before the election).
Arizona county recorders start mailing early ballots on Wednesday, Oct 7, 2026, which is also the first day of in-person early voting. If you are on the Active Early Voting List or already requested a ballot, yours goes out in the Oct 7 to Oct 10 window.
Early voting begins and early ballots are mailed. On-site early voting locations and hours are set by each County Recorder. Regular in-person early voting at on-site locations runs through 7:00 PM on the Friday before the election. From then until 5:00 PM Monday Nov 2, 'emergency voting' is available in the manner set by each county's board of supervisors. A request for an early ballot by mail must be received by the County Recorder by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 23 (11th day before the election). Voters on the Active Early Voting List get a ballot automatically.

Early ballots must be RECEIVED by the County Recorder or dropped off at any polling place in the county by 7:00 PM on Election Day. Postmarks do not count.
Arizona closes registration at midnight on the 29th day before any election. For a March 9, 2027 election that is Monday, February 8, 2027.
Arizona law preempts city charters on election timing: A.R.S. § 16-204 declares consolidated election dates a matter of statewide concern and limits local elections to four days a year. The second Tuesday in March is one of them, which in 2027 is Tuesday, March 9 (March 1, 2027 is a Monday, so the Tuesdays are March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30). Because § 16-204 also provides that a candidate election for a political subdivision 'may only be held on the following dates and only in even-numbered years', nothing on this 2027 date will be a race for mayor or council — it is reserved for bond, budget-override, charter-amendment and similar ballot questions, and many cities will have nothing on it at all. City and town candidate races run instead with the even-year state primary and November general election.
Arizona closes registration at midnight on the 29th day before any election. For a May 18, 2027 election that is Monday, April 19, 2027.
The third Tuesday in May is the second of Arizona's statutory consolidated election dates for non-candidate local elections, and in 2027 it falls on Tuesday, May 18 (May 1, 2027 is a Saturday, so the Tuesdays are May 4, 11, 18 and 25). As in March, only ballot questions can appear — A.R.S. § 16-204 confines city, town and other local candidate races to even-numbered years — and most jurisdictions will hold nothing on this day.
