In-person absentee voting at your local election authority's office opens Tuesday, Sept 22, but until Tuesday, Oct 20 you must give one of Missouri's statutory reasons for voting absentee. From Oct 20 through Monday, Nov 2 no reason is required. Statewide no-excuse window Oct 20 - Nov 2 (photo ID required), at locations and hours set by each local election authority. Missouri law lets a charter city or charter county keep a March primary if its charter provided for one before August 28, 1999 - most notably the City of St. Louis. That election falls on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in March, and in 2027 the first Monday in March is Monday, March 1, so the date is Tuesday, March 2, 2027. This does not apply statewide: most Missouri cities vote only on April 6, 2027. Check your own city's charter and local election authority.
You must be registered to vote in Missouri by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2027 to vote in the April 6, 2027 general municipal election.
Missouri state law sets one statewide date for regular city, school board, fire district and other local elections: the first Tuesday after the first Monday in April, every year. In 2027 the first Monday in April is Monday, April 5, so general municipal election day is Tuesday, April 6, 2027 (RSMo 115.121.3, confirmed on the Secretary of State's 2027 election calendar).
