Colorado county clerks start putting mail ballots in the mail on Friday, Oct 2, 2026, and every active registered voter must have been sent one by Friday, Oct 9. Drop boxes open statewide Monday, Oct 12, and voter service and polling centers open Monday, Oct 19.
The required minimum number of Voter Service and Polling Centers must be open starting Oct 19 (15 days before), except Sundays and the first Saturday of the period. Locations, hours, and any additional centers vary by county. In-person voting at Voter Service and Polling Centers continues through Election Day; polls close at 7:00 PM. In-person voting at Voter Service and Polling Centers from Oct 19 through 7 PM Election Day (minimum required centers closed Sundays and Saturday Oct 24). Drop boxes accept ballots from Oct 12 through Election Day. Sites and hours vary by county.
No request needed: every active registered voter is mailed a ballot (counties may mail starting Oct 2 and must send by Oct 9). To be mailed a ballot, register or update by Oct 26; applications received 7 days or less before the election get no mail ballot and must vote at a Voter Service and Polling Center.

Ballots must be in the hands of the county clerk (drop box, VSPC, or delivered mail) by 7:00 PM on Election Day. Postmarks do not count. Military/overseas ballots: sent by 7 PM Election Day and received by close of business Nov 11.

Colorado sets municipal election dates by the type of municipality. Under C.R.S. § 31-1-101(10) a statutory city holds its regular election on the first Tuesday of November in each odd-numbered year, which in 2027 is Tuesday, November 2 (November 1, 2027 is a Monday). Two things can override that: a municipality's voters may have moved the date under C.R.S. § 31-10-109, and home-rule cities such as Denver, Colorado Springs, Aurora and Boulder set their own date in their charters. Check with your municipal clerk.

Colorado's statutory towns are on the opposite cycle from its statutory cities: C.R.S. § 31-1-101(10) puts their regular election on the first Tuesday of April in each even-numbered year. The April 2026 round has already passed, so the next one is Tuesday, April 4, 2028 (April 1, 2028 is a Saturday). A town's voters may have moved the date under C.R.S. § 31-10-109, so confirm with your town clerk.
