Absentee ballots must be in Circuit Clerks' offices on Saturday, Sept 19, and the clerk must mail a ballot to everyone who already applied. In-person absentee voting at the Circuit Clerk's office starts two days later, on Monday, Sept 21.
Monday, Sept 21 is the first day you can vote an absentee ballot in person at your Circuit Clerk's office. Mississippi has no no-excuse early voting, so you must have a qualifying reason — such as being away from the county on Election Day, working during poll hours, being 65 or older, or a disability. Mississippi has no no-excuse early voting. Voters with a qualifying reason (e.g. away from the county on Election Day, working during poll hours, 65 or older, disability) can vote absentee in person at the Circuit Clerk's office from Sept 21 until noon Saturday, Oct 31. Only some categories (65+, disability, temporarily living outside the county, and a few others) may vote by mail.
Mailed registration applications must be postmarked by Monday, Oct 5 (30th day before falls on Sunday, so it moves to Monday). Register in person at your Circuit Clerk's or Municipal Clerk's office by Monday, Oct 5.
Mailed absentee ballots must be postmarked on or before Nov 3 and received by the Circuit Clerk by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov 10.
Candidates for the August 3, 2027 state and county primary may begin qualifying on Friday, January 1, 2027. Because January 1 is New Year's Day, the first day offices are actually open is expected to be Monday, January 4, 2027. Candidates must qualify by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2027.

Mississippi holds no regular municipal election in 2027 - city, town and village elections run on a four-year cycle that last fell in 2025 and returns in 2029. 2027 is instead Mississippi's four-year state and county election year, covering Governor, the Legislature and county offices. The party primary is Tuesday, August 3, 2027 (the first Tuesday after the first Monday in August; the first Monday is August 2), any runoff follows four weeks later on Tuesday, August 31, 2027, and the general election is Tuesday, November 2, 2027.

5th Voter Registration Deadline (General): Applicants who register in-person in the Circuit Clerk's office or Municipal Clerk's office today, and those who mail registration applications post-marked no later than today are eligible to vote in the General Election.
You must register to vote 30 days before the date of the election. If the 30th day falls on a Sunday or legal holiday, then both the postmark and in-person deadline is extended to the next regular business day.
