Mailed registration applications must be postmarked by Monday, October 5, 2026. Register in person at your parish registrar of voters or an OMV office by Monday, October 5, 2026.

Voter registration deadline (online)

Register online through GeauxVote (needs a Louisiana driver's license or special ID) by Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Early voting

Early voting starts Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 8:30 AM-6 PM daily; any voter may vote early. Early voting ends Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at 6 PM. No early voting on Sunday, October 25. Dates and hours (8:30 AM-6 PM) are statewide; each parish designates its early voting locations. Early voting ends a full week before Election Day.

Your voted absentee ballot must be received by your parish registrar by 4:30 PM on Monday, November 2, 2026, the day BEFORE Election Day (military/overseas/hospitalized voters: by 8 PM on Election Day).

How voting works in Louisiana

The SOS lists November 3, 2026 as the 'U.S. Senate General/Open U.S. Representative Primary/Open Primary Election' - a U.S. Senate general election combined with open (all-candidate) primaries for U.S. House and other offices, with a December 12, 2026 'Open U.S. Representative General/Open General' runoff. Deadlines here are for November 3 only. Voting by mail requires a qualifying reason ('In Louisiana, you must have a reason to be eligible to absentee vote, unless you are a military or overseas voter.' - e.g. age 65+, disability, temporarily out of parish).Mail ballots are due the day before Election Day, not on Election Day. Polls open 6 AM-8 PM.
