Louisiana sets local election dates by state law, and they fall on Saturdays. 2027 is a gubernatorial election year, so the spring primary for municipal and ward offices is the third Saturday in April, which is Saturday, April 17, 2027.
To vote in the May 29, 2027 spring municipal general election you must register in person, by mail or at an OMV office by Wednesday, April 28, 2027. Online registration through GeauxVote is open until Saturday, May 8, 2027.
The spring general election for Louisiana municipal and ward offices not settled in the April primary is the sixth Saturday after the third Saturday in April, which is Saturday, May 29, 2027.
