Register online by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 14, 2026. Online registration works only if your name, date of birth, Wisconsin driver license or state ID number, and address match DMV records. Your mailed registration form and proof of residence must be postmarked by Wednesday, Oct 14, 2026 (or delivered to your municipal clerk by that day).
In-person absentee voting at the municipal clerk's office may begin Tuesday, Oct 20, 2026; hours vary by municipality. In-person absentee voting can run no later than Sunday, Nov 1, 2026; many municipalities end earlier. Wisconsin calls early voting 'in-person absentee voting'. The state window is Oct 20 - Nov 1, but each municipality (not county) sets its own days and hours, and some offer limited or no additional hours. Contact your municipal clerk for hours.
Absentee request (with photo ID copy) must be RECEIVED by your municipal clerk by 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct 29, 2026. Indefinitely confined and military-not-away voters: 5 p.m. Oct 30; military away from home and hospitalized voters: 5 p.m. Nov 3. No excuse needed.
Register in person at your municipal clerk's office until 5:00 p.m. Friday, Oct 30, 2026 (then at your polling place on Election Day). Register at your polling place on Election Day, 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., with a proof of residence document.
Absentee ballot must be RECEIVED by your municipal clerk by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day; postmark does not count.
