Register online by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 14, 2026. Online registration works only if your name, date of birth, Wisconsin driver license or state ID number, and address match DMV records. Your mailed registration form and proof of residence must be postmarked by Wednesday, Oct 14, 2026 (or delivered to your municipal clerk by that day).
In-person absentee voting at the municipal clerk's office may begin Tuesday, Oct 20, 2026; hours vary by municipality. In-person absentee voting can run no later than Sunday, Nov 1, 2026; many municipalities end earlier. Wisconsin calls early voting 'in-person absentee voting'. The state window is Oct 20 - Nov 1, but each municipality (not county) sets its own days and hours, and some offer limited or no additional hours. Contact your municipal clerk for hours.
Absentee request (with photo ID copy) must be RECEIVED by your municipal clerk by 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct 29, 2026. Indefinitely confined and military-not-away voters: 5 p.m. Oct 30; military away from home and hospitalized voters: 5 p.m. Nov 3. No excuse needed.

Wisconsin state law sets the spring primary on the third Tuesday in February, which in 2027 is Tuesday, February 16, 2027 (Wis. Stat. 5.02(22); Tuesdays in February 2027 are the 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd). It narrows the field for nonpartisan local offices and is only held where enough candidates have filed.

Every Wisconsin city, village and town elects its local officers on the same statutory day: the first Tuesday in April, which in 2027 is Tuesday, April 6, 2027 (Wis. Stat. 5.02(21); April 1, 2027 is a Thursday, so the first Tuesday is April 6). Judges and school board members are on the same ballot.
