Utah voting deadlines for the November 3, 2026 election

Earliest start of in-person early voting under state law; counties may shorten the period (start later) and set their own locations and hours. Utah votes primarily by mail. In-person early voting is run by counties. By law it normally runs from Tuesday, Oct 20 through Friday, Oct 30, but a county may shorten it (to as few as four days) or extend it through Monday, Nov 2. Contact your county clerk for exact dates and locations.

Registration (online, mail, or in person) must be received by your county clerk by 5:00 pm Friday, Oct 23, 2026 to vote a regular (non-provisional) ballot. Mailed or emailed registration forms must be received by the county clerk by 5:00 pm Oct 23, 2026 (not postmark). Regular deadline at the county clerk's office; after this, in-person registration is still possible at early voting locations or on Election Day (provisional ballot). After Oct 23, you may register in person at an early voting location or at a vote center on Election Day with two forms of ID; you vote a provisional ballot.

For 2026, active registered voters are mailed a ballot automatically (mailing begins Oct 13) unless they asked to stop receiving ballots by mail. Voters who need to request one (for example inactive voters) must do so by 5 pm Oct 27 (does not apply to military/overseas voters).

Mailed ballots must be RECEIVED by the election officer by 8 pm on Election Day; a postmark does not count, so mail early. Ballots can also be returned to a drop box or vote center by 8 pm; anyone in line at 8 pm may still drop off or vote. Military and overseas voters have separate rules.
