Rhode Island voter registration closes Oct 4 for the November 3, 2026 election. Every deadline — registration, mail ballot and early voting — with the official source for each.

Register online by Sunday, October 4, 2026 (a Rhode Island driver's license or state ID is needed). The deadline does not move to Monday. Mailed registration forms count as of their postmark date, so mail your form with a postmark no later than Sunday, October 4, 2026 (post offices may be closed Sunday - mailing by Saturday, Oct 3 is safer). Because October 4 is a Sunday, your city/town board of canvassers may designate one location that takes registrations that day, with hours that must include 1-4 p.m. Check with your local board for the location and hours.
Regular mail ballot applications must be RECEIVED by your local board of canvassers (or through the state's online application) by 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2026. A mailed application postmarked by Oct 13 also counts if it arrives by Friday, Oct 16. After that, emergency mail ballot applications are accepted until 4 p.m. Monday, November 2.
Early in-person voting begins Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at a location designated by your city or town. Early voting ends at 4 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2026. Statewide 20-day window. Locations and daily hours are set by each city/town (generally the city/town hall during regular business hours); confirm with your local board of canvassers. Photo ID required. You must vote early in the city or town where you live.
Mail ballots must be RECEIVED by the State Board of Elections (2000 Plainfield Pike, Cranston) or in an authorized elections drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Postmarks do not extend the deadline.
